Today was less about running and more about heading into Saskatoon to see my students and friends at St. Michael Community School where I taught as a Learning Assistance Teacher in Saskatoon.
The morning started early as Dylan and I headed into Saskatoon for a live radio interview at 7:20 a.m.
It was a fun opportunity to visit the CBC Radio studio, meet the team behind the microphones, and talk about the Every Step Is Good Project with listeners across Saskatchewan.
Arriving at the CBC studio for an early morning radio interview - just a slight change of scenery compared to previous days on this adventure.
After getting a behind-the-scenes look at the station, it was time to go live.

Following the interview, I enjoyed something that had become a bit of a novelty after weeks on the road - a city breakfast.
After Dylan dropped me off at CBC, my good friend Veronica chauferred me around Saskatoon.
I stopped at the Park Town Hotel. Normally, I’ve been eating Vector Cereal. This was a nice change!
After breakfast, we headed to a place that has played a big role in my life for the last 8 years or so: St. Michael Community School.
The school had organized an assembly, and it was incredibly special to reconnect with colleagues, students, and friends.
Students and staff gathered to welcome me back for a visit at St. Michael Community School.
One of the first things I saw was a giant Every Step Is Good banner created by students and staff.
The amazing banner created by students and staff to support the journey.
The support was overwhelming.
Principal Steve Cole introduced me before I had the chance to share a little about the run and to talk to everyone.

Being able to speak with the students was one of the highlights of the day. I’m pretty sure every student from grade 5 and below gave me a hug.
Talking with students and staff about the adventure,
There were lots of hugs, smiles, questions, and conversations afterward. As a teacher, getting to return to a school community that means so much to me was incredibly special.
After the assembly, my friend Veronica and I headed back out to Pike Lake where I had another interview, this time with the Saskatchewan Teachers' Federation.
Once the interviews were finished, it was finally time to get back to the road.
I only ran about 10 kilometres Wednesday afternoon, making it one of my shorter days of the project, but after a busy morning, it felt good to get a few kilometres in and keep the continuous footpath moving south.
Back on the road after a fun-filled morning
Some key members of the project had been patiently waiting for me all night and all morning.
Froggie and Gnome faithfully waiting where I finished the previous day so the continuous footpath could continue south.
After the run, it was time to settle back into camp and enjoy an evening surrounded by family, friends, and crew members.
We also welcomed two new crew members to the adventure: my Auntie Lori and Auntie Carol - two of my dad’s incredibly cool sisters. It was wonderful to have them join us and experience a few days of life on the road.
Meanwhile, Auntie Chris, Uncle Garth, and Kalim once again made sure nobody went hungry.
This evening's menu featured Uncle Garth barbecuing Uncle Terry's famous burgers on Auntie Chris's homemade buns. Alongside the burgers were fresh salads and an enormous fruit tray loaded with strawberries, pineapple, cantaloupe, honeydew, and plenty more.
It was another fantastic meal and another reminder of how fortunate I am to have such incredible support surrounding this project.
My long time friend, Veronica and her daughter Sloane spent part of the evening at camp, and Chad came out to Pike Lake again and stayed the night before heading back to Saskatoon the next morning.
As if the supper wasn't enough, Veronica and Sloane brought a massive box of Darkside Donuts for dessert, ensuring everyone finished the day well-fed.
After a busy day of interviews, reconnecting with my school community, and squeezing in a few kilometres on the road, it was nice to slow down, spend time with people I care about, and enjoy a summer evening at camp.

Why I'm Running
I'm currently running approximately 1,570 km across Saskatchewan in honour of my mom, Louise, who died from leukemia at age 38. Through Every Step Is Good, we're raising funds for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada .
